Health Audit Team

Initiated in 2022 as part of our Performance Audit Team to conduct health-related audits, the start-up funding enabled the office to hire four full-time auditors for the team. Annual healthcare spending is now reaching $7.5 billion (almost half of the Provincial annual spend), and the health audit team conducts work that provides timely and effective recommendations on Nova Scotia’s changing and expanding health system. The work done to date in this new area includes the ground ambulance services audit in September 2023; Value for Money: Development of Transitional Care Facilities in February, 2024; Cybersecurity Readiness in Healthcare, in Fall 2024; Planning and Acquiring Nursing Home Beds in 2025; and more recently, Action for Health Key Performance Indicators and the Management of Selected Health Contracts, both in 2026.
